Sankta Teresa av Barnet Jesus är kyrkolärare och missionsskyddshelgon. Redan som flicka hade hon en önskan att bli nunna. Hennes bok, där hon beskrev sin livsväg, blev en vägvisare för många om hur man kan gå den andliga barndomens väg helt överlämnad till Guds vilja.

Hon föddes 1873 i den lilla staden Alençon i Normandie. När hon var fyra år gammal dog hennes mor, och hennes far fokuserade all sin uppmärksamhet på att uppfostra sin yngsta dotter.

För Teresa var den första kommunionen en extraordinär upplevelse. Upplevelsen av mötet med Jesus i eukaristin förökade i henne en barnslig kärlek till Jesus. Vid den tiden var daglig nattvard inte tillåten

Skall vi lyda och överlåta oss även när vi inte förstår? Skall vi ly­da bara för att Gud, hans bud och den överordnade har makten? Kräver Gud villkorslös kapitulation? En hel kultur har revolterat mot och avvisat ett sådant tän­ke­sätt.

Det har stöd i en sund teologi. Vi lyder inte Guds bud bara för att de är Guds bud, utan för att de är sanna och rättfärdiga, och därmed bra för människan.

Men Job tycks här mena att Gud kräver kapitulation. ”Hur skul­le en män­­niska kunna ha rätt mot Gud?”

Job har berövats både ägodelar, familj och hälsa. Så ser ju verkligheten ofta ut. Också rättfärdiga får lida.

Är det detta Jesus vill förbereda sina lärjungar på? De får höra: ”Män­­­ni­­sko­so­nen har inget ställe där han kan vila sitt huvud.” Inte ens sin far får de begrava. ”Låt de döda begrava sina döda.”
