Through the Eucharist the Lord welcomes, sanctifies and blesses the bread and wine that we place on the altar, together with the offering of our lives, and he transforms them into the Body and Blood of Christ, the sacrifice of love for the salvation of the world. God unites himself to us by joyfully accepting what we bring, and he invites us to unite ourselves to him by likewise joyfully receiving and sharing his gift of love.

I den här delen av Markusevangeliet läser vi om en svårt sjuk kvinna för vilken Jesus är det sista hoppet om helande. Hon gick igenom många misslyckade behandlingar och led mycket i processen. Nu tror han att han kommer att bli botad om han bara rör vid Jesu klädnad...
Det finns beröringar som skiljer sig från andra. De är inte vardagliga, vanliga, tillfälliga, utan fulla av mening, kraft och mening. Våra liv är ofta beroende av sådana beröringar. Beröring är nödvändigt för livet för ett spädbarn, en döende man är en lugnande tröst, vi behöver alla beröring... Frågan inställer sig – vad innebär det att röra vid Herren?

Saint Thomas More (1478–1535) was an English lawyer, scholar, statesman, and martyr, revered for his unwavering commitment to his principles and faith. Born in London, More rose to prominence as a key figure in the court of King Henry VIII, serving as Lord Chancellor from 1529 to 1532. A brilliant intellectual, he was also a devoted Catholic, whose life and death exemplified the struggle between personal conviction and political loyalty.
More studied law at Oxford and Lincoln’s Inn, developing a reputation for legal acumen and moral integrity. His early career included roles as a lawyer, judge, and member of Parliament, but his scholarly pursuits set him apart. He wrote Utopia (1516), a seminal work describing an ideal, fictional society, blending satire with social commentary on governance, religion, and human nature. His friendships with humanists like Erasmus further cemented his status as a Renaissance thinker.
