When I was younger, the Month of the Rosary conjured up a fairly specific image for me: that of my grandmother’s annual pilgrimage to Lourdes with her Rosary group.

A beautiful tradition, of course. But perhaps a bit outdated… A repetitive prayer, sometimes perceived as monotonous, reserved for those who have been praying for a long time.

And yet, when I see what the Rosary accomplishes in the lives of those who pray it at Rosario, I realize we’re a long way from that image!


The Rosary brings comfort, transforms, draws us closer to Christ, and creates true communion among those who pray it. Like Sabine, who shared with us:

“I’m the only one who prays at home, and through Rosario I’ve found brothers and sisters in prayer. It strengthens me—that’s for sure.”


So why keep such a treasure to ourselves?

In a few days, October will begin—the Month of the Rosary… but also a wonderful month of mission.

St. Matteus, Apostel och Evangelist (Femtonde Söndagen efter pingst) “Följ mig”!

(Matteus ix:9–13)

Vi läser i Evangeliet, Matteus egen beskrivning av hans omvändelse. Episteln, som är från profeten Hesekiel, beskriver den berömda synen där profeten såg fyra symboliska djur, i vilka de fyra evangelisterna kändes igen från de tidigaste århundradena e.Kr. Matteus representeras av djuret med ett mänskligt ansikte, eftersom han inleder sitt evangelium med förfädernas linje från vilka Jesus härstammar som människa.

Hans syfte med att skriva sitt Evangelium, som präglas av Gudomlig visdom, var att bevisa att Jesus förverkligade profetiorna om Israels befriare och att han därför är Messias.

Aposteln Matteus förkunnade tron i Palestina och i Etiopien, där han led martyrdöden.

Jesus hade just gjort ett fysiskt helande av en lam man. Nu helar han en man från girighet, från bundenhet till pengar. Ett själsligt helande.
