It is time to take a quick look at Sunday's game and comment the unfortunate outcome of Landala - Wobbler, which took place in an unsually tropical hot Guldheden Södra just after 16.00. Sun was rocking up in the sky and the pitch seemed to be in good conditions, despite the slightly sticky artificial grass that was visibly steaming during the course of the match. The clubs were both looking for redemption after their respective latest defeats, Landala to Heden by 2-0 and Wobbler by 6-2 at home to Proletärens.
This was the Orange starting 11:
Anders, Aidan, Viktor S, Per (c), Peter, Axel, Simon, Niclas, Sebastian A, Perta and OP. Bench: Pablo, Luca, Viktor O, Mert.
For both sides the hostility kicked off on a low profile in terms of intensity, given the climate, and the first part of the first half has seen an interlocutory phase taking place on the grass, where the main concern was to keep the formations tight and avoid any energy waste or mistakes. The main attacks came on and from the wings, where Sebastian initially seemed to have the necessary pace to create problems to Wobbler's back line and the chain Axel - Peter proved well to contain their attacking counterparts. On the attack, OP first and Viktor O. after have worked a lot for the team while Perta attempted a couple interesting solutions by raiding the away side's defense frontally. The away side stood their ground in a tidy fashion, counter attacking on a dangerously icreasing rate by the end of the first half. Reached the 45th minute, the result was stuck to a pretty balanced 0-0. A fair score to pause the game to. The second half started on a generally higher rhythm and, as a logic consequence, the uptight balance of the first half disappeared in favour of a more costly way of playing, where the first mistakes started to show on both sides. The Orange's attacks seemed to lead nowhere far due to the lads' over-articulated offensive play and with the complicity of the rising fatigue the wings started to be in the status of maximum alert. A few attacks come by against Landala and Anders has his reflexes tested with a couple of difficult saves (one with the kind help of the crossbar). Is at that point that the unexpected happens in the defense. The Landala's back department was shining up to that point with Per's punctual interventions and Viktor S's spectacular dynamism (the lad has to be voted MVP of this game), taking great benefit by the order maintained by the fighting midfielders Niclas and Simon. Is then, we were saying, that the Orange captain is betrayed by a tricky control over the sticky ground and undirectly delivers an assistance to a nearby Wobbler's striker, who takes the run towards the goal. Needless to say that the brave, desperate attempt to patch his mistake costs Eriksson a red card, since the referee judges the tackle to be too veement inside the box. The captain takes one for the team and leaves the pitch without arguing. The penalty is transformed at the second execution (the referee commanded a repetion) and when 80 minutes in the game there is not much time left for the home side to react to the disadvantage situation. Wobbler wins and jumps ahead of Landala after a pretty tight fight, that could have ended either way.
The overall spirit, order, tightness and commitment to the greater good of the team are the positive inputs to take from such a sad, somewhat irritating defeat. Pointless to argue over the captain's red card (perhaps more an orange than a red one), we as Landala should concentrate on improving the effectiveness of our offensive plays, since in a balanced game like this the line is often drawn by the single episode. Keeping the guard up to the last second of each game and with a bit of luck we can continue to carry on the some of the good work we have been able to put into the pitch up to this point, harvesting the necessary points to stay in the upper half of the table where we belong. Forza LIF!
