A fight for the playoffs and the goodbye of a legend.
On Sunday The Black Knights will have our last homegame for the season. And what a game we are looking forward too. There is a lot hanging in this last performance at Berhrn Arena. Winning will mean that we are in the playoffs and if we loose we are out. This is the most important game of the year and we are ready and very exited to play. This is our moment.
This game will not only a fight about being in the playoffs it will also be a goodbye to a Örebro Legend, Johan Stål will do his last homegame of his career. This season he made his 100th game in the Super Series and during his time as a player has been chosen MVP in Sweden. It's an end of an era.
Coach Randy's thoughts on the game on Sunday.
What's your view on the upcoming game?
Sunday's game will be historic for the Black Knights. It will be our final game at home for the 2015 season. It is our most important game of this season - a game we must win in order to clinch a playoff birth. It may also most likely be the final home game for one of this league's finest athletes, and Black Knights team Captain, Johan Stal. We want every Black Knights player who has been a teammate of Johan's, past and present, to join us this game and pay tribute to one of the organization's great football players.
What's your view on STU?
I believe the Bulls are an "extreme" team. Their offense basically throws on every down, anywhere on the field. Their defense sends pressure on almost every down, anywhere on the field until they pay the price for doing so. Last week, they scored 44 points on Vasteras, but gave up 30 points. The week before, they scored 24 points on Carlstad, but gave up 60 points. They scored 29 points versus Uppsala but gave up 54 points. Aganst Tyreso, they gave up 63 points and only scored 7. And against the Predators, they scored 69 points but gave up 56 points. We like this. We like it because we have never given up more than 28 points to any opponent this season, and we dont intend to allow any team, especially an extreme team like the Bulls, come to our house and be an exception to this on Sunday.
What are your thoughts on the game on Sunday?
This will be the first and only meeting between us and the Bulls this season. The difference between us and them is the fact that we take pride in playing good defense. Our defense is one of the top defenses in this league. Our linebackers lead the league in tackles, our secondary has scored on take-aways, and our defensive front brings excellent pressure. The Bulls defense is a doormat for just about every team they've played, with the exception of Stockholm. They give up a ton of points and our Quaterback, Grant Welp will certainly take advantage of this. The Bulls play a brand and style of football I could only classify as "Carnival Ball" - they seem to be willing to give-up points on defense just so their offense can get the ball and throw it into the endzone in 4 or so tries, just like a carnival event. The difference? We play defense here in Orebro. We are not willing to give up any points - not without a fight and not inside of our house. Our opponents have to earn them. We will see how many points STU can earn on Sunday. We are fighting to get into the playoffs and come Sunday we dont care if King Kong were coming into Behrn Arena to play. He would only be in our way and would also pay the price. We want this game more than they do. If we play to our potential, we will win.
What's the status of our team? Injuries?
Status so far looks to be that we may have a few players banged-up a bit and we will know who can be ready to play and who can not by Friday.
