IK Frej put Bollstanäs to the sword with a convincing 6-0 win at Vikingavallen on a summery Sunday evening.
Boasting the first starting 11 made up of ladies this year, IK Frej started the match playing some lovely passing football across the surface. Their attacking play, whilst it did not bring about any goals in the first 20 minutes, wore the opposition down, opened up plenty of space to play in and gave the crowd a huge insight into the new style of football the ladies are wanting to play in the future.
This hard work and intense pressure eventually became the catalyst for a flurry of goals just after 25 minutes, the substitutes coming on and taking full advantage of the tiring Bollstanäs squad. The home sides superior passing game opened up gaps in the oppositions defence and intricate one touch passing around the box allowed sensational Striker Tea to continue her fine goal scoring form with a sparkling first half hat-trick.
More opportunities came and went for IK Frej, but the danger imposed by the attackers coupled with the solidity of the defence meant that the half finished without any further harm, but plenty for fans to applaud.
After the half time team talk the home side were told to keep the focus and continue to put the pressure on Bollstanäs, but nobody thought within a minute of the restart they would have their fourth goal. A well guided free kick from winger Toni was latched on to by another F02 star Ingrid, who rounded the keeper and slotted the ball in off of the post.
IK Frej continued to wreak havoc with slick passing and good movement, tearing through the middle of the oppositions defence to set up Madde for her first goal for her new club. Her smile not only matched the relief at finally scoring but also the delight at the performance of her teammates in the build up to the goal.
If Madde's first goal for the team came as a welcome gift, another debut goal for F02 talent Olivia was greeted with equal joy. Her hard work and tireless effort for the side was finally rewarded with a well taken goal to round off the match.
The game was a clear indicator of the strength in depth and quality in IK Frej's damlaget. The team was dangerous going forward and this is the second time the defence and goalkeeper have put in a flawless display to keep a clean sheet. There is still some way to go, but IK Frej's damlaget is beginning to blossom into a team that are rightfully being recognized once again.
