March to Skovde - 2nd Place in the Knäckecupen

Oh so close! After 4 straight wins in 30 degree heat the MiniHeat fell just short of pulling another one out of their hat. In a great played final where Sundbyberg jumped to a 2 run lead in the first inning, only to have Leksand score 3 runs in the top of the third, then Sundbyberg battled back with 2 more in the bottom of the inning to take a 5 -3 lead. Leksand responded in the top of the 4th with 3 more runs to take a 6-5 lead. In the top of the 5th Leksand scored one more, which was the winning run. After the MiniHeat held Leksand scoreless in the top of the 6th, we manufactured 1 run in the bottom half, however with the winning run at the plate and the tie run on first our tournament and a great week-end of baseball ended. On Saturday we opened with a Derby against Stockholm and a convincing win 16-7. Defense was the name of the game. At the plate Julia and Willie led the way going 4/4 and everyone getting at least one hit and crossing home plate. We then took on our hosts, Leksand. A well played defensive game going into the top of the 5th inning tied at 5-5. Leksand exploded for 4 runs then added a final run in the 6th. We took 1 back in the bottom of the 5th, then showed great heart by scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th to erase a 4 run lead! WE WON 11-10! The top of the order lead the way Henke and Noah scoring 5 runs and going 6/8. Vincent provided the power with 6 RBIs. We then beat an offensive Sundsvall with a convincing show of power scoring 19 runs, again every one got a hit and came across home plate! Vincent again had a good game at the plate going 4 for 4 and hitting for the cycle (single, double, triple and HR)! Julia provided a number of web gems at shortstop. On Sunday we opened with a second game against Sundsvall, where we won 16-10 to qualify for the final. Sundsvall opened with a 6 run first inning before the MiniHeat woke up and played defense. We then held Sunsvall to 4 more runs over the next 5 innings. Again the top of the order provided the offensive punch, Noah going 4 for 4 scoring 3 runs. Leo also scoring 3 times on 3 hits. Vi slutade tvåa i Leksands Knäckebrödcup med final mot hemmalaget Leksand. Det blev en jämn och bra basebollmatch som Leksand vann med 7-6. Läs mer här från Leksands hemsida... U12 0kommentarer

Hej! Vi börjar få allt klart angående knäckebröd cup i Leksand nu i helgen 26-28 Juni. Medföljer gör 13 barn/ungdomar och 5 vuxna. Vi åker (de flesta) på fredag och återresan på söndag beroende på hur långt vi går i turneringen. Medföljer i detta mail gör också spelschemat Samling ======= De flesta kommer att åka på fredag samling kl 16.00 på Örvallen. De som åker på lördag samlas 6.30 på Örvallen. Om ni är osäkra när ni skall åka ring och kontrollera med chauffören eller Sean. Matcher ======== I och med att vi inte har ett fullt lag för A-pojkarna så kommer en del att spela för Leksands lag och andra i Stockholms lag. B-pojkarna spelar gruppspel på lördag med matcher kl 11, 15 och 17. På söndag blir det sedvanligt slutspel, om vi går vidare. Mat som ingår i priset ========= Vad gäller mat så ingår frukost söndag + lunch lördag och söndag + middag lördag i priset. För de som åker på fredag ingår även frukost på lördag. Kostnad ========= Kostnaden för de som åker på fredag är 550 SEK. För ni som åker på lördag kostar det 450 SEK. Detta inkluderar alltså förutom ovanstående mat även logi och resa. Det som tillkommer är mat på hemvägen + eventuella fickpengar VIKTIGT ATT TA MED ============ I och med att vi sover i vandrarhemmet så skall, förutom sedvanlig baseboll utrustning, även lakan/sovsäck medtagas. /Leif + Coacher Nedan följer en preliminär lista på vilka som åker med vem. Leksand Cupen

As discussed at last practice, we are planning to take a team to Leksand for a 2 day cup. The Cup is the 27th & 28th of June (week-end after next). We will travel to Leksand on the 26th in the afternoon and come back after dinner on the 28th. We plan to rent a bus to take most of the team together and will stay in a Stugor or a Vanderhem. We expect the cost for each player to be 300 to 400kr to cover housing and travel.
