A 3rd and a 6th in Nacken Cup

Well we were 1 our from 2nd and 2 outs from 5th, but after a long week end of play we came away with the bronze and 6th out of 9 teams. Job well done! The 6th place was a great result given that for many of the Black players it was their first tournament, the future looks bright! For Grey it was our first loss in 2 years to arch rivals Stockholm, but we get one more chance in Skovde to take the gold! Game descriptions and statistics to come later in the week! Heat Take the Bronze in Leksand

We played 5 games in total this past weekend in Leksand. We lost only one of those games. Final record for the Tournament was 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie...We scored a total of 68 runs....great job Heat! Out bats were on fire for most of the games as we played solid defense with the exception of a few breakdowns at key moments over the weekend. You should be proud of your boys as they showed lots of heart! Playing 5 games in 2 days plus travel can be tiring but we finished strong with a nice win over Stockholm Vit (16-8). This game included the defensive play of the weekend when a hit to left field was fielded by Mattias, making a nice throw to cutoff man Trey and Trey rifled the ball to Mattias at 3rd base to tag out the base runner Linus! We opened the Tournament on Saturday with an easy win over Rättvik (22-1). We lost again to Leksand (19-4) and won the third game against a much improved Sundsvall team (14-6). Leonard and Sebastian combined for many good offensive and defensive plays. Sunday morning we played a very spirited match against arch rival Stockholm Grön. We had them where we wanted them with a 6 run lead going into the bottom of the 5th inning. Jesper made a fine catch in Right Field to make the first out. Then Stockholm made a super comeback to score the final 6 runs of the game to tie at 12-12. We had many postives and a few negatives but we know where we are excelling and where we must improve as a team and will continue to work on those areas this coming week in practice. All in all, Excellent job Heat! Trey was offensive player of the Tournament hitting many deep blasts into the outfield including 3 home runs, 3 triples 7 doubles and 2 singles totaling 20 RBIs! Adam was the rookie of the weekend! He played extremely well on the pitchers mound making several good plays and good decisions. He also hit the ball very well with many base hits. Also, we would like to thank Tommy (Mattias father), Niklas & Julie (Sebastians parents) & Rodderick (Adams father) for following along the team and helping out! Mini Heat show heart take 4th straight!

It took a 2 run rally in the bottom of the 6th inning but the Mini Heat came back for the second time during the game to win against a larger, older and much improved Kungsängen team. Red vs Black lets call it a tie!

Wonderful to see everyone in action. We played 5 innings of B Boy rules baseball which is significant progress from 1 month ago! So we will need to kill the T-Ball series and call it the Sundbyberg B Boys series from now on. Adam for the Black and Johannes for the Red were our players of the game with strong batting and some fine plays in the field! Again thanks to Allan for stepping forward and coaching the teams.
