Checking the HEAT with Ryan...
a new face you will see playing with Sundbyberg Heat this year is Ryan Marsh a guy from Statesboro, Georgia, United States. Ryan played baseball throughout his childhood until he graduated from high school when he was 18. Then he was injured for a good portion of his Senior baseball season, but batted .452 and had 101 strikeouts pitching as a Junior in high school. Except baseball Ryan also played Football, Basketball, and Tennis. He was offered a spot on the Georgia Tech football team as a preferred walk-on in college, which is why he gave up baseball. Ryan moved to Sweden for six months last year while participating in the Skanska Unlimited exchange program. He worked for Skanska in the United States for seven years and worked on the New Karolinska Hospital project while participating in the Unlimited exchange program. He was in Sweden from January until July, when he had to return to his job in the United States. How do you Feel About Sweden: I love living in Sweden, so much that when I was here last year I applied for and was given a full-time position on the Karolinska project. I plan to live in Sweden for the duration of the project, which will keep me here for several years. what expectations do you have of Swedish Baseball: I have very high expectations for Swedish baseball. I didn’t even realize baseball was played in Sweden when I was here last year, but now I’ve learned that Sundbyberg, for instance, has had a team for forty years. I think that’s very impressive. Several of our native players have played for most of their lives. There seems to be very good rivalries across the league, which leads me to believe that there have been and will continue to be very competitive games. Hopefully I can be a part of some of those games. How do you think our Team Looks Like: I haven’t seen the skill level of other teams in the league, but I think that Sundbyberg has the chance to be a very good team this year. I think the talent level is very high, and there is good depth at most positions. We have experienced pitchers, and good team leaders who have ensured that our offseason training has been productive. We also have an experienced coaching staff that has been instrumental in developing the team and setting the expectations for the season. Personal Goals: To be a good teammate at all times and to contribute on the field for a successful Sundbyberg Heat baseball season. who do you think will be facing eachother in the finals this year? The saying goes that to be the best, you have to beat the best. Since Stockholm is the defending league champion, I would love to have a Sundbyberg/Stockholm final.
