BBK vs. Spjutstorps IF - match report

Blentarp’s P/F-13 chasing their 3rd victory in a row knew it was going to be a tough job and so it proved against Spjutstorps IF. Despite creating a number of chances to score throughout the game, BBK failed to take advantage of the situation with some poor passing and finishing in the penalty box. After winning the last two games BBK came into the game with some hope to make it three in a row. This hope quickly turned to despair with BKK looking a completely sleep in the first half. Defensive BBK looked disorganised with Spjutstorps IF taking full advantage of the poor marking in the box to take a 1-0 lead. Spjutstorps IF continued to run past the BBK back line creating a number score scoring chances. Finally they got the breakthrough to make it 2-0. Markus did his best supported by some excellent defending from Albin H, who chased, pressed and threw himself at the ball when needed to keep the scoreline at just 2-0. Despite it being 2-0 at half time, it was still an open game and one goal from BBK would bring them back into the game. The second half started better for Blentarp, with the players looking hungrier for the ball. After some excellent running down the left by Zaak, he passed the ball to Hampus who then passed the ball to Jonte who coolly passed the ball past the goalkeeper. The goal gave BBK the ‘shot in the arm’ they needed to wake themselves up. For periods in the second half BBK dominated the game, but were unable to get the second goal despite a number of chances, mainly due to poor finishing and passing in the penalty box. As BBK pressed forward, Spjutstorps IF finished off a fast counter attack with an excellent finish over Markus’ head. Even at 3-1 BBK continued to press forward and again created chances to get back in the game. Again poor finishing let the team down. BBK had a chance to score at the death after a hand ball, in spite of a well struck penalty from Zaak the ball hit the post and was cleared. On another day BBK may have scored a ‘hat full’ of goals, but it was not to be. It was a frustrating day for the team, as we missed an opportunity to climb up the table.
