Match Report - Tomelilla IF vs BBK 12 Aug

The P-12 first game of the new season proved to a very exciting game. Despite Blentarps BK losing the games 1- 5, there were many positive aspects to take from the way the team performance. Tomelilla IF is a highly rated team with many very good players. Despite this, BBK played very well with some excellent defensive work during the team. The score may look tough, but for much of the game BBK defended really well and the goals from Tomelilla were due to BKK getting tired towards the end of the game. The positives from the game included excellent positioning play by BBK, with the defenders helping each other out with some very good cover during the Tomelilla attacks. In particular Felix and Emil providing some good cover for Toby & Albin. Another positive aspect to our play was the low number of mistakes. We are learning that taking risks will cost us goals and we made very few mistakes. Another major positive was the goalkeeping from Markus. He is a giant in the goal. Combined with his fast reactions and quick thinking, he is an excellent player for BBK. There was also some good passing play from midfield to the forward. However, we must continue to focus on using the wing players to run down the pitch and make some good crosses. We saw some good examples from Felix, Jonte and Zaak, but we need to see more this from the wingers. It was also encouraging to see Lisette, Evelyn, Tim and Oliver work really hard and press the Tomelilla players when they had the ball. Keep doing this! A key learning from the game is that we can defend but chasing the ball for a whole game & being under pressure is very tough and we need to continue to work on our fitness. If we can combine improved fitness and good football skills, we will move from a good team to a great team. We must not forget to mention a potential candidate for goal of the season from Felix, a great solo run from our half of the pitch dribbling past the Tomelilla players and slotting the ball past the goalkeeper into the left corner.
